Blogs we love part 3: Lifestyle & other stuff

Tales from the crib
A blog where the lovely Lilith takes you into here own little everyday world. A beautifully written blog.

Jolarty
a blog with recipes, tutorials, eco-tips and other stuff

The hair pin
Although I usually don't agree with time.com concerning their lists of best blogs...( blogs like Red Carpet Fashion Awards, Zenhabits, Hipsterrunoff and shitmykidsruined aren't really my cup of tea)  this one is on their list of best blogs 2011 and I actually have to admit it's quite nice. How to articles and videos, advice columns..; basically it covers everything that might interest you (as a women).

The bloggess
The writer is probably a neurotic drunk who suffers from insomnia but that's just what makes this blog so awesome!

Gala Darling
Gala's blog is about chasing your dreams and finding happiness... the girl is a big promotor of self love... which is great.. but honestly the thing I like most about this blog (and it's probably not a nice thing to say) are the links: every now and then Gala posts a list of interesting links to other sites, shops, articles, etc...

Overheard in new york
This blog contains a bunch of quotes from random newyorkers overheard by other, probably random, newyorkers.
just to give you some examples:

Middle-Aged woman: Damn vegetarians, always trying to take over the world.

Mom to misbehaving four-year-old: That's it! I'm calling the Easter bunny and telling him not to to come to our house! (pretends to call)
Four-year-old, skeptically: Are you sure that was him?
Conductor: We have been advised that the 2 train will not be stopping at 125th Street due to the President of the United States in Harlem.
Ghetto chick: Yo, why Obama gotta be fuckin up my commute, though... Like muthafucka gonna ride the 2 train.

Man waiting for prescription in pharmacy, answering cell: Mike's house of sin. No, sorry she isn't available tonight. I can get you another girl, but it will cost you more.

Meathead to girl he just picked up: No, no, church is cool, I don't mind if you go to church or whatever. But I have football, that's my religion. 17 Sundays, and nobody misses that. People plan their weddings around football, I'm serious. And I have to go to the gym, that's my other religious experience.

not really a blog:

Trendhunter
art&design, fashion, food, technologie, celebs, cars, romance...name it and you'll find something about it on this site.

Enjoy!

Blogs we Love: Part 2 (Music)

Music for Robots

A lovely mp3 blog by a couple of friends who founded the website in 2004. In 2005 Music for robots released their own compilation cd titled 'music for robots vol.1'.

Loose L!ps

This blogger's slogan is: loose lips sink ships but good music shouldn't be kept a secret.... and that's just what this girl does: she shares good music. Loose Lips features predominantly indie rock, electronic and house music, but it is all what she calls "middle ground music":  music that she thinks the vast majority of her readers will enjoy, regardless of whether or not they are familiar with the band or the genre.

Gorilla vs. Bear

They blog about relevant artists without a particular genre-specific focus.

WTF!!!! Gorilla Vs Bear Posted Black And White Up! That’s The Only Music Site I Ever Go To. WTF? Got Damn, Fucking Swag. Shit.” –Tyler, the Creator

Music and Love affairs

a blog with some nice music video posts, nothing more, nothing less...so no elaborate reviews or stuff like that...(always nice not to have someone else's opinion shoved down your throat)

Stereogum

Stereogum is one of the first mp3 blogs. It focuses on alternative and indie music, news, video's and gossip.

wefuckinglovemusic

There are several people, with different musical interests/tastes, who contribute to this blog.. which is nice because whether you're into ghettotech, indietronica, technical metalcore or west-coast hiphop.. you'll find something on there that will satisfy you're musical appetite.

pigeonsandplanes

'a hip hop and indie rock blog' as it descibes itself. I actually don't really like to read reviews because they tend to be a bit boring and the people writing them all too often come off as pretentious know-it-alls... but this is actually a very well written blog.

not really a blog:

The Hype Machine: Here you can find the most recently posted songs from a selection of music blogs

Bandcamp: Every artist on here has his own microsite with the albums he/she/they uploaded... you can listen to all the tracks for free and/or buy them on this site.

The Sixtyone : you can listen to and buy music on this site, most tracks are from independant musicians. the site helps you select music according to your mood or the popularity of the songs.

Blogs we Love: Part 1

We're always on the hunt for new and interesting blogs.. and we would like to share our favorite finds with you. Let's start with some nice fashion blogs:
The glamourai

Founded in september 2008 by the lovely Kelly Framel, an american stylist and jewellery designer who lives in Brooklyn. Anyone who loves fashion, interior, photography & jewellery will love Kelly's blog!

Jak&Jil

Jak&Jil is created by Tommy Ton, the best photoblogger around. Tommy is obsessed with fashion and has a great eye for detail: he can catch the season's most perfect shoes in a sea of people... and that's what makes his pictures so perfect. He really knows how to capture the subtle nuances of an outfit in just a second :

Karla's Closet

Karla, once a member of an american girl group called 'the slumber party girls' (click the link if you want to see one of their video's), really knows how to work vintage clothing... her closet includes some beautiful designer pieces and her shoe collection is to die for. Her blog also has a link to her shop where you can buy some of her clothes... she even sold her gorgeous Dries van Noten heels on there, so be sure to check it as often as you can.

The Cherry Blossom Girl

This parisian fashion blogger drags you into some kind of  girly-pastelcolored-dreamworld with her lovely pictures. Alix, the cherry blossom girl, recently designed a lingerie collection for Etam... so every girl can buy something that makes her feel as if she lives in a fashion-fairytale.

Cupcakes&Cashmere

As the name of this blog implies: it's not just fashion it's also food (and other stuff you'll love)...need I say more?
